Leslie is originally from Cuba, Missouri and grew up with an interest in music. She was a saxophone player beginning at age 11, but always had an interest in singing. She briefly studied saxophone in college before switching to a vocal performance degree in 1995. After training classically Leslie went on to study jazz and developed a strong interest in vocal improvisation. She also began playing piano at that time in addition to beginning to write pop music on guitar. Slowly piano became the instrument of choice for her writing and better allowed for the kind of harmonic sound she was seeking.
Leslie has lived and performed in Philadelphia and St. Louis and has begun touring regularly. She plays mainly the midwest and east coast, and has also performed in Canada, Asia and Europe.
Currently Leslie's music is being featured on the Live365.com show 'Women of Substance', on KDHX (St. Louis), and on various satellite radio stations in Germany and Australia.
